This information was a schock to me! I am so sad by sending this great man to the final destination. I share your sorrow, I share sorrows of the Chinese scientists. He was a world wide known scientist with a great reputation. He was the one who opened China to the scientific world and helped the young scientists to collaborate with the foreing counter parts in different Institutions around the world especially in the field of thermal and fluid sciences. I remember the wonderful First International meeting on Two Phase- Flow Instabilities which was held in 1985 in Xi'an  Jiaotong University organized jointly with the University of Miami. His scientific collaboration with the University of Miami was unique. Xuejun CHEN knew the importance of two-phase flow and heat transfer, especially the importance of the two-phase flow instabilities in Nuclear Reactors, and high pressure boilers.

I came to China several times and  visited State Laboratory, and it was a great pleasure for me to talk to him and to exchange of ideas on the scientific collaboration and the dissamination of the information. He used to invite me to his home which was like museum with many memories. I came also with my wife,Prof Chen invited us to his house, he took us to important places; we had a wonderful time talking also to his wife.

Prof.Chen explained to me his stories after the Chinese revolution, during the Cultural revolution. Especially his important decision to return to China from USA, just after the Chinese revolution to serve to his country;he never regretted his return even during the Cultural revolution.I admired him so much!

My wife, and I, we  share your grief; we send our codolecences to his all family members,  we wish them a healthy long life to live with his wonderful memories

I came  to Xi'an Jiaotong University for his 90th Birthday celebrations as well. I will always cherish the great times that we shared.I wish I could be able there at this very sad moment.
