应实验室沈少华教授邀请，加拿大同步辐射光源胡永锋教授来实验室做学术报告。胡永锋教授是Canadian Light Source的终身科学家，负责建设了几条束线站，在同步辐射领域是非常知名的几位华人教授，五年前就来实验室做过报告，请想利用同步辐射对自己的样品进行深入机理分析的同学不要错过机会，积极准备参加讨论。
报告题目：In situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy studies of catalytic and energy materials in liquid
报告摘要：X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is a useful technique for studying electronic and structural properties of materials. When these measurements were performed in-situ, it is valuable to identify the reactive species and monitor the reaction kinetics, which could significantly improve our understanding of material property and advance our ability of rational design of material. While in-situ studies have been performed in solid state using hard X-rays, many important catalytic reactions and energy related applications, such as water splitting reactions, CO2 reductions and Li ion batteries were carried out in liquid phase; and in-situ measurements are challenging in liquid and in the lower energy range. In this presentation, we will report the recent development of various in-situ setups for studies of catalytic and energy materials in liquid using a medium energy beamline at the Canadian Light Source. After a brief introduction of the synchrotron and related techniques, I will present a few examples of applications on Li ion battery, fuel cell and nano-catalysts, using XAS and other techniques.
Yongfeng Hu博士, obtained his BSc from ShanDong University in 1988 and PhD from UWO at 1996. After postdoctal research at UWO and Princeton University, he became a research scientist at UWO in 1998, and worked as a research scientist and beamline manager, at University of Wisconsin-Madison until 2003. He has been at Canadian Light Source as a senior staff scientist since 2003, and adjunct professor at University of Saskatchewan from 2008. Dr. Hu was an expert in synchrotron instrumentation, having built and commissioned 3 beamlines and many endstations at synchrotrons in US and Canada and published over 280 peer-reviewed papers in synchrotron techniques and applications.
